Rugby Christian Aid invite you to Sunday lunch here at St Peter & St John’s on Sunday 21st October at 12.30pm. There is a list to sign up in the church or email email@example.com to book your place. This year for every £1 given the EU will match this with £4 so please join us if you can. The cost is £10 per head which includes a donation to Christian Aid.
You might want to come to church tomorrow dressed like this!
or how about this?
Sorry everyone but this is our problem.... our boiler (which looks a bit like this and lives in the cellar) has died.
We are looking at the very strong likelihood that we will need a completely new boiler and are looking into this urgently.
Meanwhile we hope to have a temporary boiler within about 2 weeks which will sit on a trailer by the back door. We hope this will give us heat while we go about the major task of replacing the boiler.
Meanwhile a huge sorry to all hall users. Please bear with us.
We are all in this together!
So please, if you can, think about a few other things (apart from dressing warmly).
1. Please pray that God will meet our need for a new boiler by helping find the right solution quickly. We are already thankful for people who have begun to help
2. Please think about giving towards the cost. You can go to our Giving page to find out how to do this
One final thought to leave you with: in God's economy we are wildly wealthy and incredibly blessed. As we seek to solve this practical problem, let's not forget to give thanks and remember the poor and the hungry.
ALL WELCOME - STILL A FEW SPACES LEFT, EMAIL US BY FRIDAY MORNING IF YOU HAVEN'T SIGNED UP ON LIST IN CHURCH HALL.
Concert: £5 on the door, no need to book in advance,
and get a team together and come to the quiz (please book)
This Sunday we are looking forward to the baptism of Lily and Harrison. The theme of the service is 'Making a Difference' Below is the poster.
As part of the service we will be highlighting the work of Toybox a charity that supports children living on the streets and in particular their campaign #livesnotlabels supporting Street Children in Nairobi so just a heads up that if you or your children would like a #livesnotlabels wristband these will be available for a donation of £1 which will go to the Toybox charity. PJ church supports this charity annually. Rev Tim Davis will give a couple of stories about how this charity is 'Making a Difference' as we think about how we are also called to 'make a difference'.
We had a great church work day today. So much was acheived inside and out. Thank you to Russell who brought the Cherry picker and to Simon who was okay to go up in it to clear gutters. Well done David who fitted 88 light bulbs!! (ably assisted by Clive and Peter). Thank you to the team of cleaners: Yvonne, Linda, Gail, Heather, Margaret. Thank you to Roy, Malcolm, David and Tim outside in the garden. Well done David B for being up ladders and painting window frames while I evicted spiders and several hundered webs from the vicar's vestry. A really productive day.
